Song of the Spheres - Creativity to the Rescue

Song of the Spheres Creativity to the Rescue is a fund raising program designed to integrate into multiple core classes, by addressing the specific needs of state approved learning standards. Contact us to raise the level of FUN, and funding, at your school!

Aboriginal Band Camp - The ABC's of Music
All ages learn by actively experiencing aboriginal instruments and sounds, from Australia, West Africa, or North America.  Via play with song and instruments, we participate, expanding our knowledge of culture, and creating a deep sense of community, because everybody's in the band! No prior experience making music is necessary.  This program is designed to stimulate and challenge everyone, students and teachers, and tailored to suit the specific needs of your program, or school.

To whom it may concern:

Our annual reading week celebration the is a Hermon-DeKalb Central School involved Africa as the main theme. As a culmination experience for this week we had the very fortunate opportunity to have Len Mackey and his group, Somé Élan Vital come to our school. Len provided an all day hands on demonstration of African music that included a concert for grades PK-5.

This was without a doubt the best student centered experience we have had in many years. Len's patience and laid back demeanor was contagious to all that were involved. Teachers and students expressed overwhelming praise for this presentation. Each class spent 45 minutes with his group singing, talking and playing a wide variety of instruments.

Len provided one of the most personal presentation/performances that we have ever had, and showed great adaptability to anything that was thrown at him! This program would be an excellent experience for any elementary or middle school.

This is a great cultural experience for the students of the area. I would highly recommend a similar format to any school.

Sincerely,
Mark White
PK-12 Principal
