Students of all ages learn by actively experiencing traditional instruments and music from West Africa.

Experience the djembe orchestra of Guinea, w. Africa. Learn orally the traditional song, dance, and techniques for djembe, doundoun, kryin, and balafon. Create a shared experience of movement and music, and celebrate with rhythms for the harvest season, initiation, masked spirits, the full moon, when the women bring the fish from the ocean…

Len in collaboration with Little River School in Canton, NY is a recipient of an Art$tart Grant, alloted by New York State via the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, providing an artist residency to teach African Drum, Dance & theater in the fall season of 2011.
